Blackpool Community Arts Project Launch

Community Arts Project, BlackpoolOn Thursday 29th May 2008 we held the launch of the Blackpool community arts project. Attended by over 200 guests and dignitaries the launch was a huge success and provided a insight into the work that we shall be doing with some of Blackpool's young people and the successes we have achieved elsewhere. The launch party was hosted by Paul Nicholas and featured pupils and staff from our schools and community arts projects in an energetic and entertaining, hour long presentation of song and dance.

With several acts entertaining the crowd on the day, some of the loudest applause went to four youngsters from our Thornton Community Arts Project who provided a demonstration of their hip-hop skills after just six weeks of their sixteen week tution. The event was concluded with a short speech from Councillor Ron Bell who arranged funding for the Blackpool arm of the project and was filmed for future showing by Viva TV.

Community Arts Project, Blackpool The community arts project provides young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to discover an enjoyable, rewarding discipline. Proven to boost self-esteem, communication and motivation, the free 16-week programme covers a wide range of skills from singing, acting and rapping through to street dancing. The course culminates in a recognised award and is funded by local councils in an effort to reverse the trend of anti-social behavior on our streets.

Any councils that would like to support this worthwhile project can telephone Karen Roberts or Paul Hanrahan on 01253 851144 or contact us using our online form.
