PNSA Nottingham launch

Nottingham's Paul Nicholas School of Acting was officially launched on the 24th March 2009 with a visit from Paul himself.

Best known for his award winning role as Vince Pinner in the long running BBC situation comedy "Just Good Friends", Paul Nicholas is still a regular TV face and is determined to pass on his expertise to the future generations of acting talent he is convinced is out there.

The Paul Nicholas School of Acting gives the opportunity for youngsters between the ages of 4 and 18 to learn the skills required to act on stage and screen. "It's recognised that there are thousands and thousands of talented youngsters who simply don't get the chance to shine because they live outside of London," said Paul. "Well, with the Paul Nicholas School of Acting that opportunity is now theirs for the taking."

A legendary all rounder himself Paul has starred in numerous West End hits including Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats and Barnum as well as remaining in the spotlight in regional tours such as 42nd Street and Jekyll & Hyde. In 1992 Paul formed a production company with David Ian. They have produced many successful shows including Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aint Misbehavin', Rocky Horror Show, Chess, Singin' In The Rain and Saturday Night Fever.A venture into pop singing resulted in several Top 20 hits and Paul continues to record to this day. He added: "I believe acting is a brilliant way to give youngsters the confidence and other skills needed to get by in life. All my schools are priced so that they are accessible to everyone � not just the rich and famous."

Margaret Saint, the new Principal, has a whole wealth of experience to draw on in her new role. Since the age of 2 when she first sang on top of a piano, Margaret has tried her hand at a variety of arts from playing guitar and singing to dancing and acting. She appeared as a supporting actress in many BBC and ITV productions between 1984 and 2004, including BBC's 'Woof' and ITV's 'Peak Practice', and has just graduated from a HND course in Performing Arts at the end of 2008. She said: "It's a marvelous opportunity for the children here, it's such a wonderful place to learn, all the facilities you could want are here. As Paul says, it's local and affordable and I have full confidence in our coaches Indira and Mat, the latter who was actually a former pupil here at the Academy."
